History of the foundation

The orphanage in Mpigi provides a safe and loving environment for children who would otherwise have no home.

Over home of hope and dreams

In Uganda there are a lot of orphans, 2.5 million. The biggest causes of this are aids, malaria and poverty. It often happens that the parents are not able to take care of the child, then the child is just left somewhere on the side of the road.

Home of hope and dreams

In 2009, it all started with one simple but powerful thought: every child deserves a safe place to grow up. What started as a personal mission grew into a foundation that today makes a difference in the lives of dozens of children in Mpigi, Uganda.

First step

In the early years it was literally a 'house of hope': a simple building, but filled with love, care and safety. Year after year, the trust in the community grew and more children were taken in. Today the children's home offers a safe home to 25 children, with room to grow to 50.

16 years

In 2025, the organization will celebrate its 16th anniversary, during which it has worked with dedication to provide education, healthcare and a loving environment for children in Uganda.

Growth through collaboration

The foundation is not only an initiative of idealists, but also an example of decisiveness and cooperation. Thanks to a local team of 15 committed employees and support from the Netherlands, the foundation was able to professionalize its work. Together with local authorities, schools and medical centers, a better future is being built structurally.

From reception to development

Home of Hope and Dreams now offers more than just shelter. There are plans for its own English-language primary school, so that not only the children in the home, but also the poorest children in the area can receive education. Investments are also made in agricultural projects and health, to offer the children the most complete development possible.

And now: building further

After 16 years of building, challenges and unforgettable successes, our mission remains unchanged: to give vulnerable children hope, love and opportunities. Every step we take is built on trust, commitment and your support.
